Sara Mallio is the founder and lead architect of White Oak Studio, an architectural practice focused on sustainable, resilient, and context-sensitive design. Her work emphasizes close collaboration with clients to create buildings that support everyday living while working in harmony with nature, with experience spanning custom homes, renovations, additions, and high-performance, Passive House–informed projects. White Oak Studio recently served as the architectural firm for the Season 46 Westford Historic Renovation featured on This Old House, where a fire-damaged Colonial Revival home was transformed into an energy-efficient, multigenerational residence. Across projects, Sara brings a thoughtful balance of preservation, performance, and regeneration—honoring the character of existing buildings while preparing them for long-term resilience.
